Sandvik is the world's only company producing textured plates and belts under one roof. We provide press plates and endless press belts with smooth and textured surfaces for the production of decorative laminates and melamine coating of wood based panels for flooring, furniture, work surfaces, kitchen units and more.
Sandvik press plates are suitable for both short-cycle presses (SC presses) and multi daylight presses for:
- Low pressure laminates (LPL) production
- Low pressure melamine (LPM) production
- High pressure laminates (HPL) production
We are constantly working to improve our processes and are now able to produce textured belts up to 2750 wide and textures as deep as 350 microns.
Registered embossed textures
Investment in digital printing means we can deliver the best solution for any requirement, including registered embossing. Production of high quality registered embossed textures requires close cooperation with décor paper producers, and digital workflows bring new efficiencies, speeding the sampling process and ensuring absolute precision.
The deep and rough surfaces of our handscraped textures – for use in the flooring industry – represent an area of growing customer demand. Wood grain designs are by far the biggest sellers, but we also offer surfaces like stone, tile, smooth, alu, pearl, stipple, grass and graphic (fantasy) textures.
Wood Fiber Floors (WFF)
Our press plates are behind the development of nadura™ flooring, based on Välinge's Powder Technology. This is a Wood Fiber Floor (WFF) product, created using wood powder, bonding agents and other additives that are cured under heat and pressure. This delivers surfaces capable of withstanding loads and stresses significantly higher than traditionally coated flooring or panels.
Design center for development of new textures and designs
Our design facility in Ennepetal, Germany, is the focus of our development work, with more than 1,000 textures on display and two laboratory presses available for testing new surfaces.
Art in Steel
Our Art in Steel collection highlights the almost unlimited range of textures that can be brought to furniture and flooring products, from natural surfaces like stone, wood grain, grass or leather, to cutting-edge graphic or abstract textures. Textured press plates can also be used to apply a combination of matt and gloss finishes to a surface, opening the door to new creative opportunities.
This creative expertise is backed-up by Sandvik's technical support offering, a global network of service centers able to provide advice on everything from efficient and cost-effective refurbishment of textured plate surfaces to customer training.

Our designers can create surfaces that are both visually appealing and beautifully tactile. Our natural collections include textures inspired by textiles, leathers, animal skins, stones, wood grains and grasses. For non-natural surfaces, we can work in close partnership with customers to develop 3D graphic or abstract textures.

Our textures can be reproduced time after time, even many years later. Press plates created to reproduce a particular texture will be identical to the original plate in every respect, making it possible to relaunch successful surfaces many years after they were first introduced.
Refurbishment and retexturing of surfaces
We can refurbish textured press plate surfaces that are worn, damaged or contaminated with pressing residues and return them to their "original" condition. Our services also include retexturing of surfaces.
